Boatwood letter I

Description

Decorative letter made from recycled wood coming from old Indonesian fishing boats. The vibrant colours of the boats and the different types of wood makes that each letter is unique in colour & looks.  The letters have hangers on the back, making it easy to decorate a wall with a name, making it a special gift to a friend or your children. We have also seen our own letters as signing and promotion in a wide range of companies, from café’s and festivals to offices and window displays in stores.

Indonesian fishermen still fish with small and colourful boats, the same way they have been doing for centuries. When the boats are worn out and beyond repair the fishermen build new boats following the same old traditions. More than 10 years ago we joined a partnership to buy old boats and upcycle the wood to make new decorative items. By doing so the fishermen need to save or lend less money for their new boat. At the same time, each sold product is supporting local craftsmen in Indonesia earning an income.

Recycled wood of various tree species, with original paint from old fishing boats.

No special maintenance required.
