Mango wood dining bench from the Bullnose collection

The Bullnose dining bench has a long seat with rounded ends and two wide wooden legs. You will also find these rounded details throughout the other furniture in the Bullnose collection.

Place the bench on one side of the dining table and combine it with chairs on the other. Choose from a length of 180, 200 or 240 cm, depending on the size of your table.

The dining bench is designed to match our Bullnose dining tables. The rounded shape of the tabletop is also reflected in the bench, making the two easy to combine.

This mango wood dining bench is part of our Bullnose collection. The collection includes a range of mango wood furniture, such as dining tables, coffee tables, side tables and storage racks.

Rounded edges and shapes are a recurring feature throughout the Bullnose collection, making it easy to combine different pieces from the same range.

Material

For the Bullnose dining bench, we use mango wood. This is a strong wood with a visible grain and natural variations in colour and pattern. No two pieces of wood are exactly the same.

Mango trees are first grown for their fruit. After around 15 years, when a tree produces fewer mangoes, it makes way for new planting. The wood from the old tree can then be given a second life in furniture.

Using mango wood in this way means the trees are not grown and cut down solely for furniture production. Knots and small imperfections are natural characteristics of the material and may vary from one bench to another.

Maintenance

Wipe the bench with a dry or slightly damp cloth and avoid harsh cleaning products. Do not leave moisture on the wood for long periods.

Wood reacts naturally to changes in temperature and humidity. Avoid placing the bench directly next to a radiator, air conditioner or other heat source. Small cracks may develop over time and are part of the natural movement of solid wood.

Travertine is a sedimentary rock formed by calcium carbonate minerals from fresh water, typically in springs, rivers, and lakes. The word ‘travertine’ is derived from the Italian travertino, itself a derivation of the Latin tiburtinus meaning ‘of Tibur’, now known as Tivoli, near Rome, Italy. Travertine is often used as a building material. It typically lacks planes of weakness, and its high porosity makes it light in weight for its strength, gives it good thermal and acoustic insulating properties, and makes it relatively easy to work. Dense travertine makes excellent decorative stone when polished. The Colosseum is the oldest and largest work ever made in Roman travertine. Also known as the Flavius Amphitheater, it housed the games of ancient Rome, such as the fights between gladiators.

One of the most distinctive and preferred features of travertine is its weathered and rustic look, which makes it the perfect stone if you want to recreate this romantic atmosphere at your home. As it is a porous stone, it is offered in two variants – filled and unfilled. The filled ones are smoother, more durable, and have a more modern look compared to the natural porous ones. The finishing is also important as it highlights one or another quality of this excellent material. There are usually four types of finishes that are applied to travertine – honed, polished, brushed, and tumbled. Polished travertine is bright shiny and very smooth. It will reflect light in amazing way and sometimes it is even mistaken for marble with this finish. Honed travertine, on the other hand, is the most preferred option. The surface is still polished but not to a glossy bright extent but left matt. This type of finish is closer to the natural look of the stone. Our collection is handcrafted & honed for a smooth matt appearance.

-travertine tiles are quite resilient, which makes them more durable than most of their counterparts.
-they do not get damaged and even though they are permeable
– travertine does not stain easily.
-travertine is actually quite easy on the planet. It is recyclable, which makes it incredibly popular among environment enthusiasts.

*If spills occur, wipe directly with a damp cloth using water only.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international non-profit organization which sets the international standards for responsible forest management worldwide. Trees and wood products that are processed according to those standards can obtain an FSC-certification.
