Material

This console table is made from mango wood sourced from India. Mango wood is a by-product of the mango industry. Once mango trees become less productive after approximately 15 years, they are replaced with new trees. The harvested wood is then repurposed into furniture, giving it a second life.

Mango wood is valued for its strength, natural colour variations, and distinctive grain patterns. As a natural material, every piece is unique, with its own colour, grain, and texture.

Maintenance

The wood is finished with a water-based coating that protects against everyday use and light moisture stains. We recommend wiping up spills immediately and using coasters where appropriate.

Because wood naturally responds to changes in temperature and humidity, we recommend maintaining an indoor humidity level between 40% and 60%. Avoid placing the furniture directly next to radiators or air conditioning units.

This collection is made from a special type of hardwood: mango wood from India. This type of wood is really sustainable because it’s a byproduct of an already thriving industry: mango fruit. The trees grow on a large scale in India and they mature quickly: in 15 years instead of for instance oaks (50-100 years). The fruit production is good in the first period of the tree. As it grows older, fruit production also decreases. That is why this tree is economically less valuable on the mango plantations. The solution for mango farmers is then: cut down and replant. Because of this way of working, the wood of the mango tree is really sustainable. Forest is not just cut down. After his life as a food producer, the wood gets a second life as a piece of furniture.

Features: 
The base of mango wood has a warm color, but due to the color variations in the wood there may be deviations. It gives every piece of furniture a robust and unique appearance.

Finish: 
We sanded the mango wood and gave it a sealer coating for the protection of water stains. The coating gives a natural look to the wood, instead of making the color dark or yellowish we kept it as original as possible.

Maintenance: 
-Wipe down periodically with a slightly damp or dry dust cloth that contains no heavy stitching, in order to avoid scratches.
-Avoid all cleaning tools with a rough surface.
-Avoid polish or cleaning products containing silicone, which can dry out natural wood over time.
-Do not use detergents or any cleaning products that contain ammonia.
-Rub wax into the wood to create a beautiful shine and a natural protective finish. It also prevents the wood from drying out.
-Mineral oil can be applied using a cloth. This will build up over time to produce a protective surface.

The wood is salvaged & reclaimed and comes from beams out of decades old houses.
From a pile of salvaged wood it is then selected by hand through craftsmen.
With an experienced eye they choose the wood with the right thickness, look and colour. This is a lengthy process which makes it more precious.
Each finished product has a rustic natural feel. All imperfections such as knots, cracks and cuts are still visible.
Nothing is done to it, other then just the sanding and brushing of the wood!

This product is sure to last for years to come if given proper maintenance.
If left as is, it will acquire a natural patina.
Otherwise you can use any type of wax, teak oil or laquer

The table has a weathered appearance with visible scratches, markings, and colour variations. These signs of use have developed over many years and are part of the character of the reclaimed wood. In our workshop in India, each table is carefully inspected and restored where necessary. Damaged boards are replaced using wood from other old tables, preserving the original character and construction.

Thanks to its folding design, the table is easy to move and can be stored compactly when not in use. When folded, it measures only a few centimetres in thickness, making it ideal for situations where storage space is limited. Two iron locking bars underneath the tabletop secure the legs during use. Simply slide the bars into the pre-drilled holes in the legs to keep the table stable and secure.

Almost nothing has been done in post-processing, except sanding and brushing the wood.
