The Carpenter teak bench comes from Indonesia and is made from reclaimed teak wood. Benches like these were once used in bars, street food stalls, and shops. This history remains visible in the seat, the wood, and the finish, giving every bench a different appearance.

Measuring approximately 40 x 17 x 50 cm, this compact wooden bench can be used as an extra seat, stool, or small side table. Its narrow size also makes it easy to place in a hallway, beside a bed, in the kitchen, or anywhere you need an additional seat.

Each Carpenter bench has its original seat. The wood from the old legs is also reused to create new legs. This means that no two benches look exactly the same. Variations in colour and size, old signs of use, and small imperfections are all part of the product.

The Carpenter bench can be used in several ways. Use it as a small table for a book, plant, or decorative object, as a stool beside a low table, or as an extra seat when needed.

Because the bench is narrow and compact, it is easy to move from one room to another. This makes it a practical piece that can be used in different places around the home.

Material

The Carpenter benches are made from reclaimed teak wood from Indonesia. Teak is a strong hardwood with distinctive grain patterns and natural colour variations. It also has a long lifespan, which is why it has been used for centuries for furniture, construction, and shipbuilding.

In Indonesia, teak is mainly grown on plantations. Furniture makers generally use teak from these plantations or locally reclaimed wood. As teak in Indonesia is not sourced from natural tropical forests, no tropical rainforest needs to be cleared for this wood.

Since 2016, the Indonesian government has regulated the timber trade through a system that traces wood back to its source. This system is part of the FLEGT trade agreement with the EU and helps ensure that only legally sourced timber enters the European Union.

Maintenance

Clean the bench with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh cleaning products and prolonged exposure to moisture. Small cracks, dents, colour variations, and old signs of use may be visible in the reclaimed wood. These characteristics are part of the product and make every Carpenter bench different.
