Small Carpenter bench from recycled teak

The Carpenter teak bench comes from Indonesia and is made from recycled teak wood. Benches like these were once used in bars, street food stalls and shops. Because of this, every bench has its own story. You can see this in the seat, the wood and the finish.

With a size of approx. 35 x 16 x 30 cm, this is the small version of the Carpenter bench. Use it as a low side table next to a chair, as a small stool in the hallway, or as a decorative table for a plant, vase or stack of books.

Each Carpenter bench has an original seat. The wood from old legs is also given a second life in the new legs. This means no two benches look exactly the same. Colour differences, old marks of use, small imperfections and slight variations in size are part of this product.

Because of its narrow size, the bench also works well in places where you do not have much space. Place it under a window, next to a low armchair, beside the bed or against an empty wall. It is also easy to move when you need a small table or extra seat for a moment.

Material

For the Carpenter benches, we use recycled teak wood from Indonesia. Teak is a strong type of wood with visible grain patterns and natural colour differences. It also lasts for a long time, which is why teak has been used for centuries for furniture, construction and shipbuilding.

In Indonesia, teak mainly grows on plantations. For furniture production, makers usually use teak from these plantations or locally reclaimed wood. Because teak in Indonesia does not grow in natural tropical forests, no tropical forests need to disappear for this wood.

Since 2016, the Indonesian government has regulated the timber trade through a system that traces wood back to its source. This system is part of the FLEGT trade agreement with the EU. This helps ensure that only legal timber enters the EU.

Maintenance

Wipe the bench with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh cleaning products and do not leave moisture on the wood for too long. Use coasters when using the bench for glasses, mugs or plant pots.

The recycled wood may have small cracks, dents, colour differences and old signs of use. These details are part of the product and make every Carpenter bench different.
