Eco-mix

The vases, pots, and bowls are crafted from eco-friendly papier-mâché. First, old newspapers are soaked in water and then pulped in a machine. This pulp is then mixed with finely ground chalk powder or limestone, with natural tree resin serving as a binder. The resin crystals are melted in warm water and added to the mixture, which is then sieved to obtain the base material with the right substance and consistency.

Base material to finished product

From base material to the final design: first, clay blocks are pounded into sheets with a wooden hammer. Next, the clay sheet is placed into a mold and pressed on the sides. Two half molds are joined and wrapped with a band, while extra clay is pressed into the seams. After the mold has dried in the air for 1-2 days, it is opened, and excess clay is trimmed away. All small holes are then filled by hand. The end product is left to air dry for another 3-5 days before being sprayed with a sealer to prevent color transfer.

Craftsmanship

The entire process revolves around two essential elements that Raw Materials values greatly: the use of natural materials and craftsmanship. It’s worth noting that each new design starts as a plaster model, which is cut to create a mold. The plaster molds can be reused 10 to 12 times. This process is predominantly manual labor, ensuring the finest outcome.
