Material
For the frame of this teak dining chair, we use teak wood. The wood is strong and has a clear grain with natural differences in colour and pattern. This means every chair looks slightly different.
The seat is made from woven natural leather. Because leather is a natural material, small differences in colour, creases and texture may occur. With use, the leather slowly changes and develops more character.
Teak has long been used for furniture and other applications where strong wood is needed. In Indonesia, a lot of teak grows on plantations. The Indonesian government controls the timber trade through a system that traces the origin of the wood. This is connected to the FLEGT trade agreement with the EU, which supports the trade of legally produced timber.
Maintenance
Wipe the teak frame with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use harsh cleaning products and do not leave moisture on the wood for too long.
Wipe the leather with a dry cloth. Avoid using too much water and dab any stains dry as soon as possible. Do not rub the leather too hard.
Wood reacts to changes in temperature and humidity. It is therefore best not to place the chair directly next to a heater, air conditioner or other heat source. Small differences in colour and pattern are part of teak wood.
